How to Choose a Thermal Imaging Company
Across the UK hundreds of businesses every single year spend unnecessary money on energy bills due to their properties not being insulated enough.
With pressure from the UK government for businesses to get green and reduce their carbon footprint, thermal imaging professionals are often contacted to carry out a building survey on a business premises to ascertain areas of insulation improvement.
Before you head on over to Google to search for a reputable thermal imaging company think about this though; like any industry, there are thermal companies out there who aren’t all that they are cracked up to be. With that in mind, here are 3 top tips to finding a reputable thermography services company:
Check the Company has the appropriate Certification
It is vitally important that you choose a company that uses thermographic engineers that are appropriately certified for the particular application. The PCN certification scheme operated by the British Institute of Non-destructive Testing (BINDT) is recognised within the UK and Europe. The scheme certifies thermographic engineers that have undergone approved training courses and have demonstrated a prescribed amount of thermal imaging survey experience before being awarded a certificate at the appropriate level and thermography application. PCN Level 2 (Building) is now a requirement for any building survey carried out in support of a BREEAM 2011 assessment.
Always check their experience
If a company is incredibly eager to get your business and offers you heavily discounted rates, it is always best to check their experience, as there are a number of fresh start-ups out there who aren’t well versed in the art of the trade. You should look for companies with experience upwards of 5 years, and companies which have worked across multiple industries.
View past work
Any reputable thermal imaging company worth their salt will have images plastered all around their website detailing thermal imaging work they have carried out. If their website doesn’t, chances are their work is either very poor or they do not have much experience. If you like the look of a company and they have no client gallery, contact them first for references.
Do they have testimonials?
If a job is carried out well and a company gets good value for money, they will be happy to provide a testimonial recommending that thermography company to others. A good thermal imaging website will have a dedicated testimonials page with real people talking about them. Don’t settle for testimonials from "John Smith – Leeds", business testimonials should always include the businesses name.
