Introducing the IR-Blue, the First Ever Thermal Imaging Smartphone
Well, it was bound to happen at some point! Thermal imaging is big business in the UK, with businesses nationwide utilizing this technology to slash their energy bills and become more efficient. Now, then, a real thermal imaging smartphone attachment has surfaced allowing iPhone and Android users to turn their smartphone in to a thermal imaging camera. It's called the IR-Blue, and it all started on Kickstarter
With a $20,000 goal, the Kickstarter project ended with total funding of $195,805, a very successful turnout for sure. The IR-Blue lets you see the temperature of things around you. It uses a 64 zone non-contact InfraRed sensor array to read the temperature of what you are viewing. The IR-Blue connects using Bluetooth to your iPhone or Android device to show the temperature readings as colors on the screen.
So long as your smartphone supports Bluetooth 2 or Bluetooth 4 BLE, this accessory will work with your handset. Your display must be at least 480 x 800 to work with the attachment, and overall it looks like an incredibly nifty piece of kit.
